A stage for stories without borders. After two editions in 2024 and 2025, the International Independent Theater Festival (IITF) returns to Haarlem for a third time. The festival celebrates theatre in its purest form: performances in their original language — Dutch, Italian, Spanish, English, Turkish and Ukrainian — with subtitles so everyone feels welcome.

Een podium voor verhalen zonder grenzen. Na twee edities in 2024 en 2025 keert het International Independent Theater Festival (IITF) voor de derde keer terug in Haarlem. Desperately Seeking Sint explores a question that is both personal and universal: how do you become part of a tradition that existed long before you arrived?

Set in the archives of a library, two newcomers to the Netherlands investigate the meaning of the Sinterklaas tradition through memories, testimonies, and theatrical exploration. Blending music, multimedia, and performance, the production reflects on identity, belonging, and the hidden rules that shape cultural traditions.
Het stuk speelt zich af in het archief van een bibliotheek, waar twee nieuwkomers in Nederland de betekenis van de Sinterklaastraditie onderzoeken aan de hand van herinneringen, getuigenissen en theatraal onderzoek. Met muziek, multimedia en spel reflecteert de productie op identiteit, erbij horen en de verborgen regels die culturele tradities vormen.
STEM Theater is a community theatre group made up of people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and cultures who use theatre as a platform to share their stories. Founded in 2017, the company presents Desperately Seeking Sint as its eighth theatre production.

Cocteau’s La Voix Humaine (1928) presents a woman alone on stage, speaking on the telephone with the man who is about to leave her forever. Originally written when the telephone itself felt almost uncanny, the play explores the mediation of human emotion through technology. Nearly a century later, its themes resonate even more strongly in an age where emotions are increasingly filtered through algorithms, digital communication, and artificial intelligence.
Cocteau’s La Voix Humaine (1928) toont een vrouw alleen op het podium, aan de telefoon met de man die haar voorgoed gaat verlaten. Het stuk werd geschreven in een tijd waarin de telefoon zelf bijna onheilspellend aanvoelde en onderzoekt hoe technologie menselijke emoties bemiddelt. Bijna een eeuw later resoneren die thema’s nog sterker in een tijd waarin emoties steeds vaker gefilterd worden door algoritmen, digitale communicatie en kunstmatige intelligentie.
The work has inspired celebrated adaptations by Roberto Rossellini with Anna Magnani, Sophia Loren, and Pedro Almodóvar with Tilda Swinton. Sipario’s production continues the company’s commitment to actor-centered theatre, placing one performer, one story, and everything at stake.

Natalino Bucci is a multidisciplinary artist from Naples based in the Netherlands. He founded Sipario in 1993 as the Italian-language section of the ESTEC Theatre Group and has worked for over three decades as actor, director, and composer. He also directs the ESTEC Theatre Group and is co-founder of the Loom Storytelling Collective, as well as co-producer of the storytelling series Tell Me More in Leiden. La voce umana is his latest directorial work with Sipario.
Natalino Bucci is een multidisciplinair kunstenaar uit Napels, woonachtig in Nederland. Hij richtte Sipario in 1993 op als Italiaanstalige sectie van de ESTEC Theatre Group en werkt al meer dan dertig jaar als acteur, regisseur en componist. Hij leidt ook de ESTEC Theatre Group, is medeoprichter van het Loom Storytelling Collective en coproducent van de storytellingreeks Tell Me More in Leiden. For the festival, Movement Laboratory presents a series of site-specific dance improvisations throughout different locations of the venue.

Each performance is guided by simple compositional scores, while movement, relationships, and dramaturgy are created live by the dancers in response to the space, music, and one another. Every performance is unique, inviting audiences to experience dance as a living, unfolding process.
Elke performance wordt geleid door eenvoudige compositorische partituren, terwijl beweging, relaties en dramaturgie live door de dansers worden gemaakt, in reactie op de ruimte, de muziek en elkaar. Elke uitvoering is uniek en nodigt het publiek uit dans te beleven als een levend, zich ontvouwend proces.
Sofia Garcia Miramon leads Movement Laboratory, a dance collective and creative practice founded in Amsterdam in 2022. Originally established as a space for research into improvisation and composition in dance, the collective has evolved into a performance group while continuing to foster artistic investigation. In addition to creating performances, Movement Laboratory organizes an annual Improvisation Festival in Amsterdam, bringing together artists and audiences to explore real-time performance.
Sofia Garcia Miramon leidt Movement Laboratory, een dansercollectief en creatieve praktijk, in 2022 opgericht in Amsterdam. Het collectief begon als ruimte voor onderzoek naar improvisatie en compositie in dans en groeide uit tot een performancegroep, met behoud van artistiek onderzoek. Naast het maken van voorstellingen organiseert Movement Laboratory jaarlijks een Improvisatiefestival in Amsterdam, waar kunstenaars en publiek samenkomen om live performance te verkennen.

Tamara Richards is an international stage and screen actor who has worked across Europe, North America, and Africa. Her theatre credits include Hedda Gabler, The Crucible, Richard III, Dutchman, and Tribes, with companies in Amsterdam, Montreal, and Cape Town. Screen work includes Venery of Samantha Bird (Starz/Lionsgate), 19-2 (Bravo), and Universal Studios’ Safe House. She is also an experienced voice artist, with clients including Philips and the Rotterdam Maritime Museum. Tamara writes and produces original work, including the award-winning short film Crazy Makes Sense and the plays Terminal C, Answering the Call and WE BE. This is her 3rd appearance at Tiny Monologues and she is thrilled to be back.

Dmytro and Daria are a bandura duo from eastern Ukraine. Now based in the Netherlands, they are dedicated to sharing and celebrating Ukrainian culture through music.
Dmytro en Daria vormen een banduraduo uit Oost-Oekraïne. Nu woonachtig in Nederland zetten zij zich in om de Oekraïense cultuur te delen en te vieren door middel van muziek.
Their performance introduces audiences to the unique sound of the bandura, a traditional Ukrainian string instrument that combines characteristics of both the harp and the lute. Its warm, rich and remarkably powerful tone makes it unlike any other instrument.
Hun optreden laat het publiek kennismaken met het unieke geluid van de bandoera, een traditioneel Oekraïens snaarinstrument dat kenmerken van zowel de harp als de luit combineert. De warme, rijke en opvallend krachtige klank is die van geen enkel ander instrument.
Through their music, Dmytro and Daria connect audiences with Ukraine’s cultural heritage while giving voice to its contemporary stories and emotions. Their performances create a musical bridge between Ukraine and Europe.

Being Federico is a contemporary and collaborative exploration of the work of Federico García Lorca. Framed as a lecture, the performance gradually transforms into a creative process in which actors improvise scenes inspired by Lorca’s plays and poetry.

Audiences are given a unique opportunity to glimpse the secret lives of these paintings and experience familiar masterpieces from an unexpected perspective.
Kunstgalerie is de meest ongewone productie van Theater van Vrienden, een Oekraïens theater in Nederland. Deze boeiende voorstelling brengt wereldberoemde schilderijen van Nederlandse meesters als Rembrandt, Van Gogh en Vermeer tot leven. Het publiek krijgt een unieke kans om een blik te werpen op het geheime leven van deze schilderijen en bekende meesterwerken vanuit een onverwacht perspectief te ervaren.
On stage, 10 of the most celebrated works of Dutch art are transformed into theatrical scenes performed in a variety of genres: from comedy and farce to drama, tragedy, and even horror. Each painting tells its own story, filled with emotion, humor, passion, and mystery. At certain moments during the performance, the actors freeze for several seconds, recreating the composition and imagery of the original artwork as accurately as possible before continuing the story.
Op het podium worden tien van de beroemdste werken uit de Nederlandse kunst omgevormd tot theatrale scènes in uiteenlopende genres: van komedie en klucht tot drama, tragedie en zelfs horror. Elk schilderij vertelt zijn eigen verhaal, vol emotie, humor, passie en mysterie. Op bepaalde momenten bevriezen de acteurs enkele seconden en bootsen ze de compositie en beeldtaal van het originele kunstwerk zo nauwkeurig mogelijk na, voordat het verhaal verdergaat.
The production also features a screen displaying the original masterpieces, allowing the audience to compare the famous paintings with their theatrical interpretations and appreciate the actors’ skill in recreating the details, mood, and atmosphere of each work. The performance is presented in Dutch with Ukrainian subtitles on screen, with music, songs, and the unforgettable atmosphere of live theatre.
In de productie wordt ook een scherm gebruikt met de originele meesterwerken, zodat het publiek de beroemde schilderijen kan vergelijken met hun theatrale interpretaties en de vaardigheid van de acteurs kan waarderen in het nabootsen van details, sfeer en stemming van elk werk. Fer is an Amsterdam-based comedian, storyteller, screenwriter, and theater director with nearly two decades of theatrical experience rooted in Buenos Aires. He teaches storytelling at Mezrab Storytelling School in Amsterdam and works as a freelance instructional designer and video producer, with corporate e-learning as a core part of his practice. He holds writing credits across premium streaming platforms including HBO, Amazon Prime, and Disney+. Currently, he is touring his award-winning solo show Fer is on a deadline, which won the Finfringe Artist’s Choice Award 2026.

Sadettin Yalta is a theatre director, performer, and founder of Kumpanya Performing Arts. Based in Amsterdam, he develops theatre projects that combine physical theatre, contemporary dramaturgy, improvisation, and collective creation practices. His work often explores themes of migration, identity, belonging, and the social structures that shape everyday life.

Since she was a child, Paula wanted to dedicate herself to acting, though life led her to study chemistry first. During the pandemic she started learning guitar and writing her own songs.
Al als kind wilde Paula zich aan het acteren wijden, maar het leven bracht haar eerst naar een studie scheikunde. Tijdens de pandemie begon ze gitaar te leren en eigen liedjes te schrijven.
Moving to Amsterdam in 2022 brought her back to theatre, where she took part in three plays through 2024. In music she kept going on her own, slowly showing what she writes — with “Deixa” now on Spotify and much more she wants to explore.

Shapiro’s day job is hosting events for Dutch green startups and scale-ups. He has hosted events for offshore wind, lab-grown meat, sustainable farming, Extinction Rebellion — and even Shell. In this show, he shares stories from the front lines of climate innovation and from behind the scenes.
Overdag presenteert Shapiro evenementen voor Nederlandse groene startups en scale-ups.
